Forum for Culture is organized by the Colombo Institute for the Advanced Study of Society and Culture in association with the Goethe Institut Sri Lanka, German Cultural Centre, Colombo. The Forum is conceived as a monthly lecture cum discussion series through which an attempt is made to explore various manifestations and dynamics of culture. In this context, the concept culture is defined very broadly. The Forum for Culture is open to all scholars, academics and practitioners from social sciences, humanities and other disciplinary areas interested in the study of culture.

The discussions are based on topics that range from spatial politics to visual arts and from architecture to performing arts. An attempt would be made in 2009 to publish the ideas presented at the series in Sinhala.
