Colombo Institute was invited by the Gaveshi Resource Centre in Aludeniya in the Kurunegala District to initiate the film project the institute had already started in Dambana and Dehiattakandiya. The Founder of the group and an art teacher in the Aludeniya Maha Vidyalaya, Mr. Eranda Samarakoon, having heard about the program, wanted his students to benefit from it as well. As such, a Colombo Institute team visited Aludeniya on 2nd of May 2008 to hold initial discussions and to assess the viability of implementing the program in this locality. The meeting was held at the Aludeniya Maha Vidyalaya under the auspices of the principal. It was attended by a large number of students from the GCE O Level and A Level classes from nearby schools, school teachers, cultural officers and youth services officers of the government and local elders.
The general discussion suggested that the program should be implemented in this locality and there was significant interest among the potential students. Colombo Institute members explained the logistical difficulties in terms of entertaining too many people, resources available and what the outcome would be. The participants were also shown slide presentations of the program in progress in Dehiattakandiya and Dambana as well as a profile and goals of the Colombo Institute.
