As the second component of the course, dramatist Piyal Kariyawasam introduced the participants to the dynamics of creative writing and script writing through a number of practical exercises. One such exercise was to weave narratives out of ad hoc images taken from newspapers and a discussion on the interpretation of images took place as part of the exercise. At the end of the two day session the participants were asked to take a series of photos that depicted some aspect of their lives. This will be the foundation on which script development would take place: the young people will participate in writing a script that reads the pictures they take.
At the end of the workshop, Colombo Institute sponsored the purchase of ten plastic chairs for the Nadee Art Center as there was a shortage of equipment for students. The institute has decided to help the center in a modest upgrading of its facilities over the next few months while the program is in progress.
